La 69ª reunión de la Comisión Regional de ONU Turismo para las Américas tuvo lugar en Varadero (Cuba), del 29 al 30 de abril de 2024. 

 

Una vez más, los Miembros Afiliados estuvieron representados para aportar su visión a la agenda de la Comisión. Diego González, Presidente, Red Española de Turismo Accesible - Red Estable, actuó en representación de la Junta Directiva de Miembros Afiliados y presentó el punto 5 de la agenda “Informe sobre la Membresía Afiliada de ONU Turismo: Situación y Actualización”. La intervención se centró en 

-          La situación de la Membresía Afiliada a ONU Turismo en la región de las Américas, que representa cerca del 20% de toda la membresía

-          El potencial de los Miembros Afiliados de aportar a la actividad de los países de las Américas en el desarrollo de su sector turístico

-          La revisión de las actividades reciente del Departamento de Miembros Afiliados

-          La posibilidad de sumar Miembros Afiliados de países en la región que en la actualidad no cuentan con ningún Miembro Afiliado: Panamá, Costa Rica y República Dominicana

 

Asimismo, la participación de los Miembros Afiliados destacó por:

 

-          La participación de representantes en los diferentes paneles y debates del Seminario: Potenciando el desarrollo turístico a través de la innovación en el turismo comunitario: SmArt for Sustainability (Panamá) y Universidad del Externado de Colombia.

-          La presentación del Informe: Tendencias de viaje –Enfoque en las Américas– 2da edición, por parte del Miembro Afiliado Amadeus.

The 69th Meeting of UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Americastook place in Varadero (Cuba), April 29-30, 2024. 

 

Once again, Affiliate Members were represented to contribute their vision to the Commission's agenda. Diego González, President, Spanish Network for Accessible Tourism - Red Estable, acted on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Affiliate Members and presented agenda item 5 "Report on the UN Tourism Affiliate Membership: Status and Update ". The intervention focused on:

- The situation of the UN Tourism Affiliate Membership in the Americas region, which represents about 20% of the total membership.

- The potential of the Affiliate Members to contribute to the activity of the countries of the Americas in the development of their tourism sector.

- The review of the recent activities of the Affiliate Members Department.

- The possibility of adding Affiliate Members from countries in the region that currently do not have any Affiliate Members: Panama, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

 

Likewise, the participation of the Affiliate Members stood out for the following reasons:

 

-          The participation of representatives in the different panels and debates of the Seminar: Empowering tourism development through innovation in community-based tourism: SmArt for Sustainability (Panama) y Universidad del Externado de Colombia.

-          The presentation of the Report: Travel Trends - Focus on the Americas - 2nd edition, by Affiliate Member Amadeus.
